Here we go...
1. What time did you get up this morning?
Our alarm was set for 6:45 but we snoozed until 7:00. Which was cutting it a little close because we had to be in downtown Asheville at the Orange Peel at 8:00 to set things up for church, and we were coming from Chimney Rock where we spent the weekend with Mike and Regina in a cabin halfway up a mountain. Gorgeous to see the sun rising above the mountains, though. Cabin living is the best.
2. How do you like your steak?
Medium
3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema?
Hmmm... I believe it was the new Pixar movie Up.
4. What is your favorite TV show?
I am a big fan of Lie to Me, LOST, Biggest Loser, and as of this summer, So You Think You Can Dance.
5. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
There are multiple responses to this question which reveals my contradictory natures, I believe. One answer is that I would be right here in Western North Carolina, maybe out toward Fairview, living on a farm growing crops and taking care of livestock and living in a farmhouse with a big kitchen like we used to have in Kentucky. Another answer is that I would love to be living out of a suitcase, traveling the world with my husband and a camera or two making documentaries and being missionaries. You tell me how I can reconcile those two, and I'll make you some homemade spanakopita.
6. What did you have for breakfast?
Two of those mini powdered donuts and half of a Styrofoam cup of hot chocolate before someone threw it away at the Peel.
7. What is your favorite cuisine?
Oh good gravy... if I have an idol in life, it's food... you shouldn't get me started. If I had to pick a cuisine specific to one country, I think I would have to go with Italian or Chinese. Way different I know, but both delicious.
8. What foods do you dislike?
Cheese in certain forms (there's a list... yes, I am aware of how weird that is), raw tomatoes, sausage (yuck).
9. Favorite place to eat?
One of my favorite restaurants of all time is Babe's, this hole-in-the-wall pizza joint in Brandon, Florida where I grew up eating pizza with my parents. I am hoping to take Josh there next weekend when we are down in Tampa for a visit.
10. Favorite dressing?
Depends on where I'm at. Steak n' Ale has the best ranch dressing... Red Lobster has the best red wine vinaigrette. At home I'm a raspberry vinaigrette fan.
11.What kind of vehicle do you drive?
One of the two cars that was GIVEN to us in this amazing year of journeying the not-so-well-beaten path with Jesus.
12. What are your favorite clothes?
Right now I'm loving a dress my mom bought me to take on my honeymoon... it was a steal at Dillards for like $10.00 and is the most comfortable thing ever, and cute at the same time.
13. Where would you visit if you had the chance?
The question is where wouldn't I want to visit? I want to go everywhere.
14. Cup 1/2 empty or 1/2 full?
How could it not be 1/2 full?
15. Where would you want to retire?
Retirement is not really in my vocabulary.
16. Favorite time of day?
Just when the evening light burns at its most golden before it dips behind the mountains.
17. Where were you born?
Brandon, Florida
18. What is your favorite sport to watch?
Live: basketball. TV: football.
19. What is your favorite book?
Just finished reading a really good novel by Randy Alcorn called Safely Home.
20. Beach or mountains?
Can't I have both, please?
21. When is your birthday?
August 18th... right around the corner!
22. Bird watcher?
No, although at the cabin this weekend I saw a hummingbird up close and personal for the first time and it was an amazing thing to behold.
23. Are you a morning person or a night person?
Since moving in with the Worthy family a year ago, I have most decidedly joined their ranks as a night owl.
24. Pets?
No... I hate cleaning up poop. Does that mean I shouldn't have kids?
25. Any new and exciting news that you'd like to share?
Joshua got into a CNA course this semester and he's going back to school full-time as well, and applying for the nursing program at the end of the year. Super exciting for both of us!
26. What did you want to be when you were little?
I used to play librarian, haha. But really, I always wanted to be a writer and a mom.
27. What is your best childhood memory?
That is a question that requires way too much thought for this rather shallow survey. I can at least say that some of the absolute best years of my childhood were spent in an itty-bitty Kentucky town with one blinking stoplight and railroad tracks so close to our house the windows rattled every time a train blew through town.
28. Are you a cat or dog person?
Both, but I like big dogs.
29. Are you married?
Yes! Still a newlywed and enjoying the discoveries (well, most of them, haha) that come along with married life.
30. Always wear your seat belt?
Yes, I'm generally a rule-keeper.
31. Been in a car accident?
Just rear-ended someone once during the evening commute. Nothing serious.
32. Any pet peeves?
When people leave the windshield wipers running when it has stopped raining and they start to make that dry rubbing sound... that and mouth noises that go along with open-mouthed chewing of food.
33. Favorite pizza topping?
Pepperoni and mushroom
34. Favorite Flower?
Tulips and roses. We are growing a giant variety of sunflowers in our garden right now and they are beautiful, too, though. Which flowers aren't? Next year I want to devote one of our garden beds to flowers only.
35. Favorite ice cream?
Ben and Jerry's Karamel Sutra or Double Dark Chocolate from Marble Slab.
36. Favorite fast food restaurant?
Chick-fil-A, yo.
37. How many times did you fail your driver's test?
I've never failed... although I need to get my North Carolina drivers license and we'll see how that test goes.
38. From whom did you get your last email?
I can't tell or else it might ruin a surprise I'm planning for Christmas presents for our parents this year.
39. At which store would you choose to max out your credit card?
First of all, I am entirely AGAINST credit card debt and don't even use a credit card. But hypothetically speaking, it would be a bookstore.
40. Do anything spontaneous lately?
Michelle and I hiked up a riverbed and then up Triple Falls backwards instead of taking the trail we usually do. It was much more fun and I'm doing it that way from here on out, even though I have to disregard the "no climbing on rocks" sign which niggles at that rule-keeping side of me.
41. Like your job?
I love interning for Highland... but I am in need of a job right now so I can get us through the semester while Josh is doing school full-time. Hoping to pick grapes at the Biltmore vineyards this September... I am sure I'm idealizing it in my head, but it seems like fun to me.
42. Broccoli?
Yes please, with cheese!
43. What was your favorite vacation?
I really enjoyed the trip to England and Scotland I took with my family in 2006... and also the weekend getaway to Chicago in 2007 with Joshua and some of our college friends. Great photos and memories from both trips!
44. Last person you went out to dinner with?
Just had lunch at Ed Bordeaux's BBQ on Bilmore Avenue with Mike, Regina, Josh, Michelle and Matthew. I daresay better than 12 Bones.
45. What are you listening to right now?
The window fan whir. Josh is taking a Sunday nap. Not snoring right now, though. ;)
46. What is your favorite color?
Green.
47. How many tattoos do you have?
Two... told myself I'd wait to get another until I turned 25 after I got the first two at ages 18 and 19... figured I needed to slow down a little or I was going to be covered in them.
49. How old were you when you realized there was no such thing as Santa Claus or true love?
I figured out the Santa thing when we put out cookies and milk for Santa one year and also carrots for the reindeer. We put the rest of the carrots we had out on a plate. The next morning the cookies and milk were gone but when I looked in the refrigerator there were the carrots back in the veggie bin. Guess Dad doesn't like carrots that much. True Love... well I certainly still believe in that, it's what keeps me going!
50. What is your parenting style?
Nonexistent, at least for now!
51. Coffee drinker?
No, I prefer my caffeination by means of Liquid Satan (as Josh calls it)... good 'ole Coca-Cola.
